Ride Safer Travel Vest questions

I put the Scenera in the Jetta today and dd is right at the top slots, her torso has grown! It is time to find another solution to our tight 3 across situation. I had hoped to get a few more months out of the Scenera, but such is life.

I'm considering the RSTV for youngest dd. She is consistently at or above 35# now. Even when she got really sick and lost 5#, she bounced back to 35# in just a couple of days. The car the RSTV would go in is used for dd only on occasion.

How easy is the RSTV to adjust to different torso heights? It would be great if neighbor boy could use it for carpool and I didn't have to switch seats out constantly. Would it be too difficult to get on and off in a carpool situation? I know nb's torso is much longer than dd's, he is all torso and dd is all leg.

It doesn't adjust that way... it'll just ride up a bit off a shorter torsoed kids shoulders, basically, the belt will always be properly positioned as long as the child is within the weight range :)

Right, the lap belt was properly positioned on my kiddo's hip bones when she started using it during PreK & still is about a year later, but the shoulders might be uncomfortably high for some kids: near cheeks or earlobes level.... Also, it is even more important that this should ideally be used in the center (even with side curtain aibrags). Although it take a bit longer to use, we've become rather quick with it & we love ours for travel, emergencies, impossible vehicles, etc.

If you're willing + able to spend ~$100 to try it out, just make sure the retailer has a good return/exchange policy JIC ;)

It's perfectly OK for shoulders to be *at* the top harness slot so you don't have to actually replace the seat until kiddo grows again (this is perfect timing to begin the search for a replacement) :)

She settled a bit as we drove too, so she has maybe a quarter inch, after settling. I will probably wait until tax return since we can survive without using the Jetta for all of us, as long as the van is in good working condition. The van was out of commission today, getting the puke cleaned out of it. Once the baby comes, we won't have a choice. If the van isn't available, for any reason, at least one person stays home.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking dh and nb may not be able to handle the vest for carpool, but it should be easier to pull a booster and put in the vest than to put in the Scenera anyway.
