I currently own a minivan and I am looking to find something smaller that will fit all three of my chidlren. My mother's SUV's back seat fits them perfectly (55 inches across) so I am trying to find a car with something close to that possibly and that's safe.
Links or suggestions?
Many thanks

It's possible to fit 3 child seats in many cars, but more so when the seats are not wide at the same place ~ I could never fit 3 Britax Wizards all RF or all FF, but I can fit a Britax Parkway booster next to a RF Wizard next to a Graco CarGo {in my Ford Escape} As far as sedans go, I was able to fit an infant seat, booster & 5-point in my old Subaru -- it was extremely difficult to buckle the booster, though! I haven't seen a chart comparing the backseat dimensions of vehicles, but I do know that you can look up the dimensions for specific vehicles just be going to the manufacturers' websites. Regardless of the vehicle, you may find that you'll need to get new child seats. What age/weight/height are your kids & what seats are they in now? We may have some ideas on seats that will be more compatible side-by-side.... Also check out Vehicle Features Buying Guide -- click the other links within there for more info, too! ;)

Most manufacturer's websites have a "compare" page that lets you plug in one more more vehicles to compare different features, including interior dimensions. However, the only real way to see if your seats will fit is to actually try them in the car - those measurements can be deceiving.

Unfortunately, I've only seen hip and shoulder room measurements. I've never seen anything published about individual seat width, seatbelt/anchor locations, seat cushion contours or seat back angles. You'll probably have to see them in person to judge.

How old/weight/height are the three children? What seats are they in now? A lot depends on those things. I can easily fit 3 harnessed seats in DH's outback wagon, but it is more difficult when I we try to use a booster and two harnessed seats since we want to make sure DD has access tot he buckle.

I have the Eddie Bauer 3in1 Elite Car seats. My mil has a 2005 Impala and tonight I put two seats in. One in the middle and one on the side. There was plenty of room for the third seat on the other side.

Chevy Equinox

Try the Chevy Equinox. It was the only vehicle I saw at the Auto Show that had three LATCH positions in the second row that could be used simultaneously. Also, the second row of seats slides forward to be closer to the driver -- a nice feature, I thought. Saleswoman at the Show said it was designed for women by women.

Thanks for the replies :)

Currently my children are 10yo (almost 5ft tall and 110pounds), soon to be 5yo (42 inches 42 pounds) and a four month old (16 pounds not sure on inches).
I currently have the baby in the baby RF in the Fisher Price Safe Embrace Convertible that I bought when my older son was 2yo (not yet expired). I have my (soon to be) 5yo FF in a britax marathon and my 10yo is not in a child seat. I am willing to look for other seats as long as they are safe obviously.
We have a second seat (the Graco Turbobooster) in DH's car for our 5yo that I could use.

I went to cars.com and noticed it states "hip room" *sigh* I guess I will look for the cars with the largest hip room and then go see them in person? My mom's SUV had 59 inch "hip room" so I have been looking for somthing similar.

Any ideas or do we have to go with a van?

VW quality issues

My parents and a friend have Passats. Just wondering what kind of issues they are having or where I could go to read up on it myself.

2005 Toyota Prius & Britax seats

Last evening I installed a Roundabout between a Parkway booster & Husky of all seats, LOL! Husky behind driver with Roundabout center & Parkway opposite -- this way the 2 harness seats' belt plates are next to each & the booster'd kid didn't have to worry about unbuckling someone else ;)

In a Prius? That's three big seats in one small car! You should take a picture of *that* for your signature! :D

This makes me REALLY want a Prius. I need to be able to fit Hayley's Husky and two other seats/two other backseat passengers, and we thought it was impossible with a Husky.

I was completely astonished it worked.... At lunch today I installed the Wizard in the other outboard position & managed to squeeze my 5'4" 100# self into the middle {LOL} Not the most comfortable, but do-able when necessary  & thanks to the tie-down hooks in the trunk, my 2 dogs joined us for the ride! I really wish I wasn't so intimidated by snow on my winding hill or I'd trade the 4WD Escape Hybrid in for the Prius -- it's just so fun to drive :p
