You aren't being nosy, or if you are, I'm not offended, LOL.
We were on state healthcare when Hayley was born, and they don't cover issues they consider cosmetic--they don't cover circumcision, either. Since she couldn't breastfeed I was given a referral to a specialist who said that as long as she could latch onto a bottle nipple, then she could get nutrition, and state healthcare wouldn't cover the procedure.
It was a real blow to me, it took three weeks for her tongue-tie to be diagnosed, she was five weeks early and only weighed 4 lbs. 7 oz. and after three weeks of pumping and bottle-feeding I couldn't do it anymore. After finding out the insurance wouldn't cover the clipping procedure I decided to quit pumping and switched to formula. It really contributed to the PPD I had. I couldn't even change Hayley's diapers for the first month or so, I was afraid I'd break her. Her dad had to do everything.
We were concerned she'd have speech problems because of it, but so far it doesn't seem to be the case. I think the stretching we've had her do has really helped.
