Traveling with Carseat - Last Question(s)

I promise. I sent DH to buy DS a Parkway (with a DOM 12/06 which DH did not pay attention to) to take on their trip and I just have a few last questions. Do you suggest he gate check the Parkway or can he carry it on the plane? I am just not sure what to do with it now since DS cannot sit in it on the plane. If he gate checks it what can I put it in to protect the cover? TIA for all the help.

I would probably separate the base from the back and see if I could fit the back into a suitcase with clothing surrounding it. Then I would just take the base onto the plane as carry-on and stow it in the overhead bin.

Good advice for many boosters, but the Parkway doesn't come apart to convert to lowback mode, unfortunately, which complicates packing it compactly for carry-on purposes. Any chance the OP could pick up a Graco Turbo booster, which does have the separate back and base parts to ease packing, or maybe a folding Compass booster?

I didn't mean to use it as a low back... guess I should have been a little more clearer. ;)

I just meant it would be easier for carrying/packing that way. It does come apart... quite easily actually. :)

Okay I might need a quick lesson. The Parkway comes apart? I haven't took a good look at it yet. I did have DH uninstall the Regent and let DS ride in the Parkway in DH's car so they could get used to it and there would be no surprises but DH acted like it didn't come apart either. That would be awesome.

When I bought mine, it came in the box apart. The back rotates 180 degrees so that it's basically upside down and then separates from the base (pretty much identical to the Graco Turboboosters).

Step 10 and 11 on page 13 and page 14 show how to put the back on the Turbobooster...the Parkway works the same way...

Just to be clear... you can NOT use the Parkway without the back attached. :)
