Need spare seat for Ford Fusion

Are there any seats in the $100 range for my 34lb, 39" tall, 2.5 year old? Will be used in a 2008 Ford Fusion only 3-4 times a month. Back seat has built in headrests, not adjustable, so I think the Apex 65 is out?

This new car put shoulders a full inch above the top slots of our just-at-the-height-limits-in-old-vehicle spare, an Evenflo Titan. I hadn't budgeted for a new seat until February!

As long as your DS' ears are below the tops of the headrest, an APex would definitely be a good option for you :)

I don't mean to derail the post here, but I have a related question. My DH has an 06 Ford Fusion and I did not get an Apex because of the fact that the head rests are molded to the seat and aren't adjustable. My 5 year old is a little bit taller, but roughly the same size as the OP's child. So, my question is - once the child's ears are at or above the top of the headrest, the seat would no longer be useable, correct? If that's the case, I don't think I'd get nearly as much use out of the Apex as I would if the headrest was adjustable.

Yup, that's correct.

Are Radian's and Regents my only other options? Do Britax's ever go on sale?

Apex didn't work - there was maybe 1/2 inch headrest above his ears, and the install somehow loosened up after our first (& only!) trip even with a LATCH install.
