New regent/old regent/husky installations

I know the new regent installation methods but what about the older regents pre-June 07? Do they still require a top tether for over 50#s? Can you do lbp w/o recline bar for over 40#s?
And the husky? How do you install those and does it require a top tether?
I am trying to harness my boys but only have 1 tether anchor for the 2 of them. The radian doesn't work. Maybe a true fit, if there is enough growing room for at least 2 years - my 6 yo would still fit in a ma w/almost an inch.
Just trying to weigh all my options!
Thanks:rolleyes:

Yes, all of them have always required top tethering at 50 pounds (and some other rules...maybe when you don't use the recline bar? from 22 pounds up). I think Regents prior to June and all Huskies have always been optional on the recline bar (if top tethered) and LBP or SBP, whichever fit your car.

Thanks - I am still working on how to get a ta installed there. Unless I do an aftermarket one I can't get one and I am uncertain of what I think of that! Do you think an aftermarket ta installed in a solid part of the van floor is better than no anchor at all?

I think if you go to a reliable person to have an aftermatket TA put in, then it's just as good (if not better) than a factory-installed TA. I know I took our '05 Odyssey in to get more TA's put in the back (the '05's only come with 1), the guy I talked to said that he used much heavier-duty anchors than the factory and that his could hold a much higher weight. And I think as long as they're installed directly to the chassis, then there isn't a problem at all. (This is just my opinion. We were going to do it, but decided not to since we're leasing our Ody and we don't want to pay a bunch in fees for modifying it if we decide not to buy it at the end of the lease.)

Yeah, it's 'probably' fine... there are extensive 'how-to' instructions in the LATCH manual, and possibly ordering a heavy duty anchor from www.ezonpro.com would be a good way to go, they may have good install instructions too, and since you'll be drilling a hole, might as well drill for the fatter bolt to start with. I'm not saying *I* could do it, but someone with some good mechanical savvy could probably be able to do it right (without drilling into the exhaust system or gas tank, and making sure the reinforcement plate is adequate...the ezon comes with a giant reinforced washer for that purpose).

Thank you. I have a 'guy' mechanic who would be willing and able to do that for me. Now to find more 'stuff' to sell to find money to buy those regents:p
