car accident

I was in a car accident on Friday, and I was windering if anyone know the laws for California Car seats being involved in car accidents. I have be told different things. Some one told me I only need to replace one car seat and that someone else told me both and then another told me I hade to replace anything in the car that's used as child protections.. I believe California is one of the few states that may require insurance companies to pay for child restraint replacement in some cases. Here are some guidelines on replacement, but many parents are more conservative and replace child seats in other circumstances, too:

Personal property that is clearly damaged, including things like strollers, may be replaced by insurance companies after a crash, also.

Darren's right, California law requires that insurance companies replace car seats involved in a crash. I don't know whose insurance company has to foot the bill, but SOMEONE will be buying you new seats. I'd contact your insurance agent for instructions on how to proceed.

If you any doubts about the child seats needing to be replaced whether they were occuppied or not, contact the child seat company.
