How are we supposed to know?

I know I've posted on this same topic before but it really makes me mad that there are rules we are supposed to follow that aren't in the manual. On another board I'm on someone posted about RF height limits of a Roundabout. All I can find from Britax is:

On website:
standing height: up to 40'' Seated
Shoulder Height: 10.5'' - 15''
(exact same specs for forward facing)

In the manual from page 30:
Maximum Height:
The child is too tall when the tops of the ears are above the top of the restraint, or height exceeds 40 inches (102.cm).

There are different specs for RF and FF weights on page 30 but only that one for height.

If you aren't extraordinarily "in the know" like us then seriously how could you possibly follow directions that aren't given to you.

I agree with you! My MA manual states that once the top slots are needed for ff, you may continue to use them until the child's ears reach the top of the seat shell. But, Britax says you cannot use the seat after the shoulders go above the top slot. Well, then why doesn't the manual say so? I did use the seat with middle dd's shoulders above the top slot before I knew better. Now that I know about spinal compression, I won't use it again that way, but I HAD double checked my manual before making a cross country trip and it sounded like I was fine.

I found this too in the MA manual. There isn't any distinction in the RA manual either. It's crappy.

Heck, my Scenera manual says it. Is it Britaxes fault, or is there some wording in FMVSS 213 that MAKES them say it? (time to print it up and do some light evening reading again...ugh...)
