If you use a mirror rear facing, which ones are "safe"?

I've honestly never needed one but I have been doing more driving around for work and Ryan comes with me and he is so quiet in the car that sometimes I worry and since I can't turn around and look at him when I'm driving I think I may want a mirror.

TIA

I have some fancy fisher price thing that's never made it to my car (the music isn't loud enough to hear in the car, but it's great for the changing table, lol)...I know another tech who swears by the really, really soft mirrors they sell in the crib department (I agree...I thought mine was plenty light and soft till I saw one of those crib mirrors)...whatever you get make sure it's solidly attached, and the bigger it is, the easier it will be to see him in a super quick glance...smaller ones have to be aimed so carefully they barely work...

<insert usual disclaimer about aftermarket products not being safe here> ;)

yeah, i like the crib mirrors because they are flexible mylar instead of hard plastic. the one in our car is flexible also, but it's marketed as a car mirror. i recently saw an eddie bauer one at target that was large, rectangular, soft mylar and nicely padded. it was also quite lightweight. i didn't check about the attachment method. that may be a nice one to check out. it was $15.

ours is a round fisher price one. it's smaller, also lightweight, and there's no way it will come off the headrest in a crash unless it is physically ripped off by something other than crash force.

I like this one but I'm guessing anything that plays music isn't super soft:rolleyes:

I kinda wanted to order of BRU because I have to order other stuff and if it totals over $49 I get free shipping but I may check out Target too.

We have this one:

I like it and the only way that its coming off is if my heardrest does, so I feel pretty safe using it.

This is the one i have and we love it!

The 3rd one probably wouldn't work to gret, it has two ties on each side and they are very short and hard to tie. Plus it would be hard to get the correct angle.

Depending on where you have the seat at the first one might block your veiw, second one too. If i was to pick between the first and second one though, i'd go with the first, he would probably be more entertained with that one.

ETA: I found this one, it is like what i have....

Was it one like the one in this photo?

That's the one that I have. I have since taken it off. It USUALLY was used with a Boulevard (tethered RF), but I did occasionally use it with the Scenera too (not tethered).

yep, that's the one. how could you see a child's face getting injured on that from cocooning? (assuming that's why you don't use it with the scenera). the mylar is really soft and flexible. it's barely different than getting pushed into the seat itself.

That's true! I was just afraid that it would be worse. YOu are right, though. It probably wouldn't be much different than the seat itself.

We have one that hooks into the FF tether in the back. The velcro part could come off in a crash (or when DS kicks it) but that part of it is very soft) the part attached to the tether isn't going anywhere. I got it at BRU.

ETA that it's right there in my signature picture.

My DD is RF in a tethered Decathlon. I use the Sunshine Kids mirror and love it, but it is hard. I didn't use it when she was in her infant seat because I didn't want her to hit it due to "cocconing"(sp?).
But, if she is tethered in a RF DC, is that mirror considered safe?
The mirror is great though. It's on very securely, and adjusts so nicely :)

How does this one attach? I need to attach it to a seat without a headrest.

Mine is posted above and does not have a headrest. It connects to the tether anchor. I tried the one patriot has posted above but could not get it to work without a headrest so I took it back and got the one I have now.

Thanks. I know there will be available tether anchors, so this should work for me. I will look next time I am at BRU.
