Where do I place the twins?

I just purchased a minivan. In the back it has 2 captain chairs/bucket seats along with the standard 3 seater behind those. Where do I place my twins? If I put them in the captain chairs there's no room for anyone, not to mention my 6 year old, to get past to the back seats. But I've heard that it's illegal to place them in the very back(?) Does anyone know if this is true? What should I do?

It's not illegal to put them on the back bench.

You'll need to register to reply.

How old are your twins? Also what seats are they riding in?

How bout your 6 yr old? What's her height, weight and seat?

We'll be able to help you better with more information.

Thanks

It is certainly not illegal to use the back for your kids :)

You have a number of seating options. What seat is your six year old in and where do you want him seated?

What Van model do you have, and what year is it?

thanks

It is not illegal to place them in the back. The safest position in the vehicle is the center. Depending on your model you may be able to move some captains chairs around to help gain access to the rear. Once you give us the info we can help you find the safest and most convenient positions for your little ones :)

Off the top of my head, I think the Sienna and the Ody are two that you can do this in, I'm not sure about other vans. We have a 06 Sienna, I scooted the passenger side captain's chair over so DD1 can enter the third row from that side easily.

My van is a '95 Ford Windstar. My six year ols weighs about 35-40 lbs. and uses a booster seat. I know that the captain chairs can come out and was considering removing one to put the twins on the back bench and the 6 year old in the remaining captains chair....that should work fine shouldn't it?

That'd be fine. I know of a lot of people who remove a captain's chair to make their life easier. Especially those in colder climates who want somewhere contained to remove jackets before getting into the seats. And people with more than one baby/toddler to wrangle. :)
