Hi All,

My DS is 14 mos, 29 " tall, 26 lbs. He's RF in a FPSVD in my car but looking for another seat as DH will need to pick him up from daycare in January. What is the narrowest seat on the market? DH drives a 2 dr Dodge Stratus and the center of the backseat is raised but is kind of narrow. I had a hard time getting the FPSVD installed correctly in the center and finally put it outboard on the one occasion that I drove that car with DS. I would like to keep him in the center if possible though. Are there any seats that are narrower than the FPSVD?

Thanks for your help!
Becky

You could look into the Sunshine Kids Radian 65. It's very narrow and offers a rf tether. It does have some installation difficulties sometimes. Maybe someone else can chime in with how it will fit in your car.

I dont really know of any rfacing so this may not help but I have a 95 Honda Civic with the pull to tighten lap belt in the middle and its like a small rasied bump more then a seat and I have a Graco Cargo and its perfect. nothing else can go on the sides thought but we dont need it. Im not sure if your ready to go ffacing but Cargo would work in the center.

I would try the Radian rfacing first though.

I would try either the Radian or the Scenera, which is also pretty narrow. Just keep in mind that RFing in a five point harness is amazingly safe. The center is the safEST, but your child would still be very SAFE outboard. It's not UNsafe. Just not as perfect. And i know, perfection is the goal, but it's not at all a death sentence to be put outboard. Especially in a RFing five point harness.

If you are going to put the baby outboard and you're concerned you can get a Boulevard or Diplomat which have wings around them, or a Signo or Como, though I think those would be a very tight fit in a small car. Those would give you an added bit of protection, or at least peace of mind.

IME, Dorel Juvenile (Cosco, Safety 1st, Eddie Bauer) seats fit raised center seats pretty well because of the design of many of their bases -- most of their seats' features pale in comparison to the FPSVD (imo) though & a secure/correct outboard install is safer than a loose/incorrect center install....
