Combination seat recommendations

Hi, my six-year-old is currently riding in a britax advocate click tight, and while he still fits all the parameters well, I feel like he’s uncomfortable and would be more comfortable in a larger seat. I am no longer active in the Car Seat community, so I’m curious as to what the current recommendations or favorites are for combination car seats. I’m looking for something that will also allow latch to be used in the booster mode. Thanks.

Hi Sara, What is his height and weight? There are some great combination seats on the market, however most won't get you past 40# using the lower anchors in harness mode. The Cosco Finale goes to 50 pounds, but unless he is tiny he has probably out grown the harness height. Graco now has a Nautilus (Snuglock), the Chicco MyFit and Britax Grow with you (Clicktight) all have lock offs that make installing with a seatbelt easy.

Thanks. He is 6 and almost 50 lbs. Height is average. I will try out the Chicco and Britax seats at the store.

And I just realize that I wrote my post wrong, I’m looking for something that allows latch to be used in the booster mode, so that the seat is secured when the child is not in it.

Ah! That's all combination seats currently on the market EXCEPT those made by Dorel (Cosco, Safety 1st, Maxi-Cosi, Disney Baby, etc.)

I would consider that many people find booster mode in a combination seat very difficult to use just because of the bulky design, and encourage you to buy the best seat for harness use, considering that you may well need a dedicated booster later.
