You know all this CPS stuff is going to your head when you start dreaming about a new carseat invention! :p Last night I dreamed that we got a delivery & opened it up to find a seat that was a blend between the Bodyguard & Wizard! RF/FF 5-point harness to 65 pounds & at least 49", then a fabulous booster till 100 pounds ... with LATCH, belt lock-offs, EPS, cupholders & other magnificent fun things that kids love ~ like a place to store gameboy, seat heater, etc. I woke up sad that there isn't such a thing {LOL}

scatterbunny-I don't even mention car seats anymore. Everyone knows I am a bit crazy when it comes to kids in the car. I had to bite my tongue at the Y today when a woman with a 10.5 month old-she was tiny, but starting to walk--was explaing that she is small, blah, blah, blah, but she "finally" turned her car seat forward last week b/c she's 20 lbs. She went on to explain that she knows she should wait til 1 yr, but is's only 6 weeks away and "it's not like she'll develop anymore in the next 6 weeks."She added that she also did this with her son against the advice of the ediatrician since she feels "I know my child best." I can understand that some people make honest mistakes, but knowingly opting to put your child at risk is inexcusable in my book.

Sadly, I turned my DD FF at about 4 months ~ Ped. didn't say not to though & our state law [still] doesn't require RF at all ... but, when she outgrew the infant carrier, the convertable we had was a SLOPPY fit RF so I honestly thought she was safer FF :( It was an overhead shield anyway, too & I'm sooooo glad I found this site!!!!!

BTW, all the babies I knew had been turned FF immediately after outgrowing their infant carriers, so I didn't think there was anything wrong with it @@ I really wish NY would hurry & pass the pending legislation to require infants be RF as well as for pre-schoolers have belts on buses!
