Infant or Convertible

My first baby is due in June. I am trying to decide if I want to get a convertible or an infant seat.

If I go with a convertible, It will need to fit in small back seat (2013 Fiesta) at a newborn angle. I have been looking at the Coccoro and the Extend2fit. I will also need 1-2 cheaper (<$75) convertibles to leave installed in family members cars as spares. Maybe Scenera Nexts? Would prefer to stay under $250 for the main seat.

If I go with an infant seat, I was looking at the original aton (really cheap on albeebaby) or the snugride 35 ($100 black Friday deal). I would like to spend $100 or less if I go with an infant seat because I will switch baby around 9 months when it warms up.

My main concern with a convertible is fit in my car and fit to baby. I have no idea how big baby will be, obviously.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi and congrats! That Aton is certainly a good deal, but be aware that it's already halfway through it's lifespan. You seem well-versed on carseats that should fit in your vehicle. I haven't worked in a Fiesta yet (just grimace when they pass me on the road because I know my time is coming, lol) and while the Coccoro should fit rather well, I would buy from a store that has a good return policy because it doesn't always fit babies well; it has an insert that can cause issues.

Scenera NEXTs are good choices as spare seats. The next seats in that price range are Evenflos (Sonus and SureRide) and they're rather large front-to-back. They'll last longer, though. After that, I'd consider a Graco Contender/Admiral. On sale, they're in the $100 or under range (hmmm, might fit in the more upright range in your car when your baby is older).
