Car seat in front seat of a truck
Hello, I am wondering if 2 5pt harness car seats can be installed on a front bench seat of a 2007 or 2011 Toyota Tundra pickup truck that does not have a rear seat/4doors. Thank you!

Re: Car seat in front seat of a truck
Hi there!
Physically, yes, car seats can be installed there.
Rear-facing seats cannot be installed in the front seat if there are active airbags. Unless a waiver has been obtained and a manual switch installed (you cannot trust the sensor to deactivate the airbags), you cannot put a rear-facing seat there.
A forward-facing seat can be, and you can check your manual for information on how to tether them.
One state has no exception to their age limit on the front seat but in most states it is allowable as long as the seat can be properly used there.
So in short: if the children are old enough to safely and legally forward face (or you have a manual switch to disable the airbags), and you can get the seats properly installed, yes.
You may benefit from meeting with a CPST in person to help you make sure they are properly installed, locatetether anchors and airbags, etc.
