My 5 year old son needs a new seat. He is currently forward facing in a harness. He is about 45 lbs and on the shorter side. What would y’all recommend

Hey there!

What's your budget, please, and what car do you drive?

Out of curiosity, what makes you say he needs a new seat? Sometimes people say that and they don't actually, which is nice for saving money. Sometimes they say that and it was long overdue. So, just want to double check. :)

I need the new seat because his is expiring. Vehicle, we actually are looking for a new vehicle so that’s not much help I guess 😂
Budget is negotiable but a budget friendly option would be nice to have in mind. He is my last kid in a harness (radian currently). I have one teenager, a 10 year old on a turbo booster and an 8 year old in a turbo booster. I have seating options since we have to drive a van

Cool, thanks!

Do your Turboboosters have their screws in them?

Is your youngest booster ready, or does he need another harness?

Yes to screws 😀

I think he might be ready for a booster but I do always worry about making that switch. I worry about when we take long trips (a few times a year). I know he can handle normal day to day rides. I’ve waited until at least 6 to switch the other kids.
It feels like it’s been forever since I had to look for a seat.

Ok. I'd look at the Evenflo Maestro, Graco Tranzitions/Wayz, Harmony Defender, Evenflo Evolve. Those all start out in harness mode, and switch to boosters later. Other than the Maestro, they all do harness, high back, and backless.
