My husband has an old Jeep and he loves taking the kids out in it. The seat belts do not lock in a crash.. so i can’t pull on them till they lock. Is there a device I can buy to keep the seatbelt locked in place when we have a car seat buckled in?

Hi. Yes, you can use a locking clip on the seat belt to secure it. However, some Jeep vehicles have locking latchplates which means the lap belt stays locked but not the shoulder belt. What year is the Jeep? This webpage discusses locking clips and locking latchplates: https://carseatsite.com/lockingclips/

OK, then yes, if they aren't locking when you are pulling them out all the way slowly, then they lock at the latchplate. Buckle the seat belt and pull the lap portion of the seat belt straight toward the front seat. It shouldn't move if the latchplate locks. If neither are locking, then it's possible the seat belt is broken and you should have a dealer look at it.

All model year 1996 and newer vehicles must have some way to lock a seat belt for a carseat, so that's why a 2001 Jeep should have locking seat belts.
