Hi,

2005 911 cabriolet. Tried a couple of the car-seats suggested and still struggling. PLEASE can anyone help!? I spent at least 4-5 hours trying to search through this and various other forums, and tried purchasing an evenflo. Before I try any more, i'm hoping someone with experience can just tell me what seat to buy...

It seems finding a booster is a lot easier, but I don't feel comfortable putting my son in one yet.

My son is 3.5 and needs a harness and front facing car seat. My car is the cabriolet which has no hooks or tether. I am struggling to find an option that ONLY uses the seat-belt and fits well. Outside of the Porsche OEM seats. Has anyone found a seat that securely fits without much movement?

Hey there.

Your gut is right. A booster's not a great choice at all.

Could you maybe try a rear facing seat? A Britax ClickTight would be very compact front to back, and without a top tether it would be safer to rear face. The Britax ClickTight's high belt path rear facing would work with the deep bucket, and the high and forward buckle of the Porsche. It may also work forward, but I know I've gotten one in rear facing.

My concern forward facing in such a teeny tiny compact car without a top tether, and without a place to put a top tether, is that your son will have head, neck, and facial injuries due to impact with the back of the front seat. But rear facing totally mitigates that. And the Britax ClickTights are tall enough to get a child to 40 pounds rear facing. At that point, you can try a booster. :) Though, I don't know of any boosters that would work back there with those high and forward buckles.
