Question about seatbelt retractors and Graco Nautilus snuglock 65 dlx

I purchased a Graco Nautilus 65 snuglock dlx and I have it installed; however I’m unsure about one thing. My car manual (2010 Honda Element) says one must always trigger the seatbelt retractor lock when using a booster...but this car came way before snuglock and comparable tech. The Graco manual specifically says you don’t need to trigger the retractor lock for one type of seatbelt retractor style (ALR) but doesn’t say that for the two other types (switchable and ELR). I called Graco and they said I should not trigger it, but they didn’t ask me what type of retractor I have. Does anyone have any insights into this? I want to make sure I do the right thing. Many thanks!

Hi there.

You don't engage the locking mode of the belt. You skip it.

And just fun fact: Lockoffs (of some variation) have been around a lot longer than 2010. :) My daughter came home in 2002 in a Britax Advantage with lockoffs, and they weren't brand new then, either. :)
