I have done allot of researching from state law, vehicle manual and advise from store.
My vehicle owner manual stated "I need a Special BabySmart compatible child seat, designed for use with the Mercedes-Benz system are required for use with the BabySmart air-bag deactivation system. With the special child seat properly installed, the passenger front airbag will not deploy".
After doing more research on that statement. The BabySmart child seat have (2) sensor mounted inside car seat base. The front passenger seat has a device inside the seat that detects the sensors and that deactivate the airbag.
Then I was puzzle about why can't you have the baby car seat in the back seat and why in the front passenger seat only. In my vehicle manual it stated "The system DOES NOT deactivate the side impact airbag, the window curtain airbag and the emergency tensioning device". There talking about all the airbags that deploy behind the front passenger seat.
The dealership don't sell the car seat anymore since my vehicle is no longer in production. I don't know what route to take or go beyond for the safety of my son.
