Chrysler Seatbelt Repair

We have a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country and the front passenger female part of the buckle broke. It seems to be jammed and will not accept the other piece. Our mechaninc wants $300 for a used part and $600 for a new one. I realize there is a sensor for the air bag somewhere, and also a sensor that can tell when someone is in the seat, but $300 for a metal buckle? In another thread someone mentioned getting one repaired for $40. There was also mention of a lifetime guarantee on all Chrysler seatbelts that started around 10 years ago. My husband called the dealer and they say ours isn't covered. Any thoughts and/or ideas are appreciated!

Unfortunately, with technological advances come pricier repairs.

I would call around to other mechanics and see what they quote you. An aftermarket part probably isn't a good idea if they have sensors in them.
