Seat recommendation for flying with tall kiddo, not booster ready.

We will be taking a 2.5 hour flight with our 5 year old. He is 47.5”, 51 lb. and not booster ready due to inability to sit properly for longer periods. The flight will be on a Canadair Regional 200 or 700. Once we land, it’s a 3 hour drive to our destination.

Our car seats are a Diono Pacifica, Graco 4Ever and new Britax Pinnacle. He is very close to outgrowing the Diono Pacifica and Graco 4Ever as we are on the last height adjustment/slot for each. What are my options to keep him in a 5 point harness for our trip? Is there another car seat which will be better suited for this trip? We are open to purchasing another car seat with a budget of $250 if it’s a better option and can be used until he’s booster ready. The Britax Pinnacle Clicktight is a whopping 22.5" wide and I believe the Canadair Regional seats are 17".

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

You can usually use a wider seat if the arm rests go up.

That said, you might get a few more years out of a Harmony Defender (or if you have a Graco Tranzitions up there, sameish height.)

I don’t think OP is in Canada. She’s saying they’ll be flying on a CRJ—the Canadair Regional Jets are common airplane models in the US.

If you’re in the US, you have LOTS of options. Or at least more than what KQ mentioned.

Also look at the Chicco MyFit and the Cosco Finale. The Finale is budget friendly and lightweight, which is nice for flying. And you definitely have access to the Graco Tranzitions.
