Question Booster Seat

I am currently using the Evenflo Symphony DLX in booster seat mode with my 6 year old. Her friends have simpler booster seats without the headrest: is there a safety advantage to sticking with the more structured Symphony or is the simpler booster seat just as safe?

Hi there.

A high back booster helps position the shoulder belt, give her someplace to rest her head when she's tired, and has shell around her to remind her to hold still. In a frontal crash, we have no evidence that it's better to be in a high back versus backless. And there are no side impact standards, but she's too short to benefit from most side curtain airbags in just a backless booster right now.

The belt guides for the Symphony are above her shoulders? Most six year olds are getting close to outgrowing the seat that way.

We're happy to help you with high back or backless recommendations if she's outgrowing her Symphony.

Thank you for your reply! She’s about 120cm tall and the Symphony goes up to 145cm in booster mode so we do have some time. She wants to be a “big girl” in a more traditional booster seat so if a regular booster with a back was as safe we would consider switching. The Symphony just looks so much safer, but I was just curious if it actually is? I would appreciate booster seat recommendations for when we are ready to switch. We currently drive a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. Thanks!
