Everyone is telling me that seatbelt crossover is unsafe but no one can answer me why or how. Is there any evidence anywhere showing how this is unsafe? I have a 2006 RAV4 and have 3 seats that hat physically fit across just fine so im not seeing the problem...

If you remove the driver's side seat, it's very unlikely the center seat will be secure on its own. The seatbelt overlap may be that you can buckle them all in, but they're not independently secure. If a seat isn't independently secure, it will not act as it should in a crash.
