sweden and booster/harnessed forward facing carseats

a question about Sweden and the use of booster seats and why they don't for the most part use harnessed seats forward facing?

a facebook group I am in advocates the use of a harnessed car seat when forward facing and to use this as long as possible..up to 10 years of age. Some use the eg of a race car driver using a 5 point harness.

but this got me thinking..a race car driver also has a helmet which is tethered to the seat as if they had to stop suddenly their body would be held in place but their head and neck would go forward and well with a heavy helmet this would likely result in a broken neck?

so do the Swedens in general not use harnessed seats foward facing due to the child's body being held in place but nothing stopping their head and neck from going forward and why they rear-facing until the child is 4-6 years of age?

Re: sweden and booster/harnessed forward facing carseats

I think that is the gist of the argument for booster usage over FF harnessing. As far as I know, it is all theoretical, though. One also has to take into account the child's maturity level. If the child can't stay in the proper position where the vehicle's seat belt will catch them, then a booster is not the best option. I keep reading that Swedish kids often transition to a booster around age 4, which is younger than is generally recommended here in the US because of the maturity issue.
