Will rigid latch on Clek Oobr work in a Ford Expedition 2017 EL?

I had a rigid latch booster from Clek a while back that we could not get to fit into our Honda Pilot (I don't remember the exact problem - perhaps it did fit in one of the seats, but it was not the seat that that child needed to be in due to other kids' needs, etc....I can't recall). I returned it at the time.

Now, I have a Ford Expedition 2017 EL (the extended length so more like a yukon XL or suburban). I am wanting to move my 6 year old into a high back booster (is that what all the boosters with backs are called). I'm looking at the clek Oobr - mainly because I like that their fabric is considered to be less toxic (other than that I really have not liked the Cleks we have had for lack of ease of installation and being a total bear to try to clean crumbs out of). I'm wondering if the rigid latch will work in my Ford.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

The only positions it shouldn't work in are those with offset lower anchors that don't line up in the middle of the seating position (or those seating positions with a very narrow belt anchorage distance so there's no space between anchors and belt buckle.)

That said, the Oobr is a tricky booster sometimes, as it has very little leg support, some kids don't like it or will wiggle around uncomfortable. (Sometimes a leg rest helps.) It's best to try it before buying if possible.

As for toxicity, have you read this post? I think we need to take a nuanced stance on this. I would rather buy whatever booster works, and clean the cover. https://carseatblog.com/33513/should-you-toss-your-toxic-car-seat/

Hi,
Thanks for the info on Oobr.

Yes I have read all the posts I can find on flame retardants and toxicity. I do keep our car clean, I do wash the covers, but we have to spend a lot of time in the car unfortunately. I'm just trying to reduce or eliminate exposures where I can, when possible, since we and our kids are bombarded from every direction these days.

I get that, but I do think it's important that the booster can be properly used, so try before you buy.

Yes, I agree. Sadly even though I am in a fairly large city, there is no where locally that sells Clek. In fact, since Babies R Us closed down, the options have been narrowed to Target, Walmart, etc.

If I go with the Oobr I'll have to order from somewhere that takes free returns.

I did find out that Britax does have a new fabric that is very similar or the same as the Crypton fabric from Clek - it is the Nanotex fabric on some Britax seats. It still uses flame retardants, but ones that are thought to be less horrible, although there really isn't much research on this I guess.

And, Clek just game out with their Mammoth line, which uses wool so ZERO flame retardants...but I think the Foonf is like $500. Ridiculous!
