Question safety regs for single cab pick up trucks

what are the safety regulations about kids (age 7-10) sitting in a single cab pick up truck? We are looking into buying an old pick up truck and would like to know about the safety regulations regarding our 4 children riding in it (not all at once). 3 of our kids are no longer sitting in booster seats and one still is. Can 2 kids sit (along with the driver) in a single cab pick up?
Any info or experience with this would be helpful.

Depending on the age of the truck and which specific truck it is, many older trucks will have a lap-only belt in the front center seat. A lap-only belt is not a safe option for anyone other than harnessed car seats. Many center seating positions won’t have sufficient head support either. For something like a single cab Ford F-150, you’d need to get a 2011 model year or newer to get a lap-shoulder belt (and head restraint) for all seating positions. The Toyota Tundra has those features a bit earlier (maybe 2006-ish). Dodge didn’t add them until much more recently and Chevy still doesn’t.
