Question French car seat regulations

I have the Cosco Scenara Next and am travelling to France this summer. I understand that the Cosco is not approved under EU car seat regulations but I have heard that France (unlike the UK) exempts foreign visitors from complying with EU regulations. Can you confirm if this is the case, and are there any resources you can refer me to validating this? I personally am happy with the safety level of the Cosco provides but do not want to break the law as my insurance cover may be invalidated

I don't know that the law or your insurance will care.

Legally, letter of the law? Maybe not. But will French officers know? No. Same as American ones. I always just used my seats in France. It's a LOT easier than trying to figure out how and where to buy it, install it, etc.

Insurance covers people with unrestrained and improperly restrained children all the time. Unless your insurance specifically spells out that they won't cover a child that's improperly or illegally restrained in a crash, it would be hard for them to make a case for not covering a child in a seat from another country.
