I have a Graco my ride 65 car seat manufactured in 12/12. It was a shower present and it stayed in the box until July of 2014. Do i figure the actual expiration date from the day it was first used which would be 6 years from July 2014. If still need to consider expiration date 6 years from manufacture date, please explain.

It's stamped on the underside to not use it after seven years from the date it was made. It's from then because that's when the plastics start breaking down, not when you start using it.
