booster help

We're flying to Disneyland, into Orange County. A friend is picking us up to transport us to our hotel. He drives a BMW 320i.

My daughter is 4, almost 5. At home she's still in a harnessed booster. I want to just get a regular butt booster for this trip since it's literally just driving to and from the airport.

Does it matter which one I get? Is one going to fit better than another? Can she sit in the middle between us two adults? Or do I have to put it on the side so she can have a shoulder belt?

Yes, she absolutely must have a shoulder belt, as should the adults. Having a parent with her in the back seat would be a good idea so she can be reminded to stay in position if needed.

How much does she weigh? That will make a difference in what we recommend.

I don't know if that model of vehicle has a shoulder belt in the middle. Does anyone know?

Newer. Not sure an exact year.

Pictures from the last 4-5 years show a shoulder belt in the middle of the back seat.

As for a seat- I have had good luck with the bubblebum in all the seating positions I’ve tried with a variety of children of all sizes. I think it would probably serve you well.

Another option- and one that has a shoulder belt adjuster clip to help with shoulder belt position- is the harmony youth booster, which is about $13 at Walmart. It is small, easy to carry on a plane, and fits a variety of kids in different vehicles well.

My only other thought was the Ride Safer vest, but I didn't really want to spend that kind of money. It wouldn't be the only trip we'd use it for, but she's right at the cusp between sizes. I feel like the second I buy a small, she'll hit a growth spurt. LOL

Wish I could post in the swap section. Don't know if that's shut down or something. I'd consider one used.

I would be OK with an almost 5yo that size in a booster with adults in the back also. Definitely either the Harmony booster or the Bubble bum. We've traveled with both and they both have worked in any situation we've used them in.

I haven't actually used a bubble bum, but I would also be completely comfortable with either of these seats in the same situation.

Which is more compact/easier to pack? Does a Bubble Bum roll up small?
Not sure if you are still considering the vest, but the harmony lite rider or the bubble bum would be much easier to use. The bubble bum does roll up small and would be the easiest to travel with.
