Chicco Nextfit CX RF

This isn't the best picture, but my 2yo's head is dead even, or maybe 1/2" below the top of the headrest by my measurement.... Is this normal/recommended for the Nextfit? If I move the headrest up a click, her shoulders are dead even with where the straps come out of the Shell, and slightly below when she settles in & I get her out of the seat at our destination.... [emoji53]

2 more questions: 1) the hip "padding" isn't required, right? It was bothering both of us. 2) can I order an IMMI chestclip (from Chicco) for the IX models & swap it out??? IMG_20180401_213508071.jpg

The head being high on the headrest is something I have heard happen, but it isn't a safety issue. Chicco doesn't have a limit of how far from the top of the shell/headrest the head needs to be. I don't believe the hip pads (I assume you mean the ones that keep the harness open when unoccupied) are required. Your manual should have that info. As for the chest clip, I think that is a question you'd have to contact Chicco about.

Thank you so much for your reply!
Ok I'm out to learn something today. How wouldn't this be a potential safety issue? In my mind, with no ARB or RF tethering system, it would be more likely for her head to not be completely protected by her seat if it is so high up. Not saying there would be an issue with head contact on the front seat but that's what I visualize lol!

Rest assured the seat is tested to be safe without that limit. The shape of the shell probably provides some anti-rebound protection, but that doesn’t prevent the ride-up that could bring her head up the back of the seat. Installing the seat as upright as is allowed might be better to contain RF toddlers’ heads, but I don’t think there are any studies on that. If you can use the seat in the center, that could ease your mind too.
