    Car Bed

We received notification that Angel Guard will no longer be manufacturing their infant car bed which we have been using for low birth weight infants or premature infants who do not pass the car seat challenge test at discharge. Are there any other options for us out there? Our DME vendor could not find any. We are a small rural hospital, not a NICU, but we do sometimes have 35-36 week infants who do not pass the challenge and are otherwise doing well at discharge. We have 60 babies a month and do not have capacity to keep babies in feeder grower status in the hospital simply because they can't pass the care seat challenge. HELP!

    Re: Car Bed

The Hope bed starts at 4.5. It's expensive enough it's usually used as a loaner, not supplied. That's the only option for car beds under 5 lbs currently.

Have you got an option in your protocol for retesting with supplemental oxygen? That is one way to keep car bed use down.
