I own a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Can top teachers be added to this year model ?

According to the LATCH Manual it is possible to retrofit up to two top tether anchors in your Jeep and there is a free program in the U.S. through the vehicle manufacturer for doing so. The top tether anchor retrofit part number listed in the LATCH Manual for 1999-2000 U.S. Jeep Grand Cherokee models is 05016870AA Taupe Trim for retrofitting the outboard rear seating positions (the rear passenger side and the rear driver side) with a top tether anchor, but not the center rear seating position. There is a service bulletin, Chrysler/Jeep Bulletin Number 23-015-15 dated April 23, 2015 which addresses the free program in the U.S. for retrofitting eligible pre-factory equipped Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram models with top tether anchors free of charge for U.S. vehicle owners. You need to refer your Jeep dealership parts and service department to that service bulletin about the program, and also to Warranty Policy and Procedure Manual and/or Warranty Bulletin D-08-33 for reimbursement details for the dealership to obtain its reimbursement from the vehicle manufacturer for the parts and labor to perform the retrofit. All that said, be forewarned that sadly it's not uncommon for dealerships to be unaware of the manufacturer's top tether anchor retrofit program and/or to attempt to charge the vehicle owner directly to do the retrofitting, unfortunately, or for owners to learn that the retrofit parts are no longer available to be installed. Sometimes other posters here have had to go over the dealership's head to involve Jeep corporate if need be to get the dealership on board to honor the manufacturer's policy or to track down scarce top tether anchor retrofit parts, and you may need to pursue the corporate involvement approach to get it all sorted out.
