    3 across in elantra

We would like to install three across in a 2010 Hyundai Elantra:

    1. Chicco Keyfit 30
    2. Clek Fllo, forward facing
    3. Booster seat (we have many to choose from, ranging from 5 point harness to to high back to backless)

When measuring the space of the back seat and the car seats, there should be enough room. But every time the seats are installed, the curvature of the backseat pushes the two outside car seats away from the doors and towards the middle seat. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Can you tell us the ages, weights, and heights of your three children? What boosters have you tried?

Also, are you installing the outboard/outside seats with LATCH or the seatbelt?

LATCH anchors tend to force seats to be centered between them, whereas with the seatbelts, you can pull them further to the outside and have more room center.

Another trick might be to keep the booster seat belt buckled at all times and have the booster rider slide under the seat belt to get in and out, not ideal, but an option if it’s needed

Thank you for the advice so far. We tried installing with both LATCH and with seatbelts with the same results.

    Kids' info is as follows:

    1. 6 year old, 44 pounds, 48 inches. Currently in Graco Nautilus 65 5 point harness. Also have a Graco Turbobooster that could be used.
    2. 4 year old, 34 pounds, 39 inches. Currently in Chicco NextFit. Also have a Clek Fllo and a Britax Blvd 70-G3 that could be used.
    3. Newborn, due June. Chicco KeyFit 30.

We tried the KeyFit, Fllo, and Turbobooster because it seemed like the best combination. We CAN get the seats to actually fit in the backseat, but in order to do so, they end up leaning towards the center because the backseat has an almost bucket like curvature to it.

    Re: 3 across in elantra

The first thing I would try is a narrower seat for the six year old. Neither the nautilus or the TB are particularly 3 across friendly. I would consider a Harmony Defender. If that doesn't work a radian is very narrow but might not last your 6 year old long depending on height. But it should last the four year old a while.

I would also try putting the seats in in different positions and facing different directions. For example, try the infant seat on one side, the 6 year old's seat in the middle, and the fllo on the side. If that doesn't work try the fllo in the middle. Also, does your 4 year old fit rf in the fllo? I would try one rf seat on each side and a seat for the 6 year old in the middle.

Finally, while your 6 year old is old enough and heavy enough for a booster seat a harnessed seat is easier to buckle in a 3 across so I would use one for as long as possible.
