Question Help with seatbelt for toddler booster

We are using a high back booster in a BMW 5 series and the buckle is hard to reach for my son (and for me). Any ways to fix this issue? Not sure I understand why an extender can’t be used, but if it’s not safe I won’t use it. Anyone?

Hi. There really aren't any ways to fix this issue. Using a buckle extender changes the geometry of the seat belt on the child and may place the "new" buckle in a location where either the buckle can be depressed in a crash by the booster itself or it can injure the child. Many booster manuals specify locations where they want the buckle to lay and extenders may not lay in the right place. The vehicle manual may also not allow it for children.

How old is the child? Your title indicates that this is for a toddler. Belt positioning boosters should never be used for children under 4, and are not recommended for children under 5.

A harnessed seat would eliminate the problem.

He'll be 6 in March.
