Spectra - 3 car seats/boosters

Hello all,

I know there are a couple of similar threads to this, but I'm new here and don't know all the acronyms, so I thought I'd start fresh.

Our second car is a 2008 Kia Spectra and, although it only happens a few times a month, having to coordinate car transfers with my wife is getting a little old (she works night shifts occasionally, so I take the Sienna and drop the kids at their schools/daycare, then go switch cars with her on her way home before I go to work so she can pick them up after a nap...its a little complicated). I'd love to be able to transport all three kids in the Kia on those days.

I have a 40lb 6 year old forward facing, 30 lb 4 year old forward facing, and rear facing 20 lb 20 month old. My current seats all have cupholders, armrests, etc, so I think it would have to be 3 new seats. I think I could order three Radian R100s and be done with it, but I'm curious if you can do that as a belted booster when my 6 year old switches. Also, do the R100s work well as rearfacing? Any other configurations I should consider?

What does your budget look like for this?

I definitely wouldn’t get Radians for the older 2, and probably not the youngest, either.

If you want a low budget option, a Cosco Scenera NEXT and 2 Cosco Finales would be about $120 total, and would probably work back there.

Oh, those Cosco Finales look nice, especially the price! If I can get seats in the ~$100 range (average) then I'd be more likely to just go buy all three. For prices like the Radian ones, I'd be more likely to convert one or two at a time as some of our older seats expire. But it would make life much simpler to make the change immediately!

I need to look closer at my existing seats...I think one of my convertibles (might be the Evenflo one?) is a little on the thinner side, so maybe two Finales would fit with that.
