Stay in convertible or move to booster?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out what will be best for our car seat situation going forward. My older daughter is 5.5 years old, 58lbs and about 48.5" tall. She is in a Radian RXT right now. We also have a 3 month old. When it is time to move the baby to a convertible seat, I'm trying to figure out if we need to buy new ones or if we can move our older daughter to a high backed booster seat.

Would you move a child at this size (and realistically, we still have a few months)? When you say "booster ready," what does that mean? Thanks in advance for all advice.

Re: Stay in convertible or move to booster?

Your 5-year-old is big enough to safely ride in a booster. When we say booster ready, we mean mature enough to sit still 100% of the time in a seat that gives her more freedom than a harness. Only you can judge that, of course! I would pass down the Radian, assuming it has a good amount of time left before it expires. Many people do wait until a baby has good head control before moving them to a Radian so they can save space with the angle adjuster.
