Question Graduating to forward facing

My daughter will be 4.5 at the end of the month and in a recent growth spurt apparently weighs 44.6 lbs. she’s in a diono radian rtx with a 45 lb rear facing limit. Should I buy another seat with a 50lb limit or should I just accept the fact that’s getting big and turn her forward? I swear she gained the last 5lbs over the last 3 months. Seems silly to spend hundreds of dollars on what could be just a couple extra months of rear facing especially when we have friends with kids her age in booster seats! What would you do?

Hi. RF to age 4.5 is outstanding and barring any physical problems, she can safely FF. If my kids were younger, I wouldn't have any issue with FF at that age (and didn't).

You've done wonderful keeping her rearfacing this long. Way to go! I'd be completely comfortable turning at her age, especially since keeping her rear facing would be so expensive and the time until she would fit being unknown.

I rear face my kids a long time. I'll do anything necessary to rf to 4. But at 4.5, barring a specific medical need, I absolutely wouldn't buy a new seat to rf longer. Good job!

Thanks everyone! Yesterday she had a blast in her new position. I’m going to have to get used to my new back seat driver :)
