Question about car seat

i got a free infant car seat and stroller set given to me i am not sure if its safe to use cause the manufacturer date shows 2012 but the month is faded on it . can i still use the set or should i go to the store and buy a new set all together? please help if possible thanks

Is this seat coming from someone you trust with your child's life? Any recalls have been fixed? It was never in ANY crash at all, checked as baggage on a plane, washed inappropriately? Without knowing which seat it is we can't say if it's expired or not. They don't all have a standard expiration. But likely it'd be best for you to simply get a new seat. Do you need recommendations?
