Airplane seat - Which convertibles have a separate beltpath?

I will be flying with my 2.5 year old in the spring and I'd like to buy a convertible seat to take with us that is lightweight, fairly comfortable, and has a separate beltpath for the airplane seatbelt. Of course, airplanes have the buckle in the middle so I don't want that big metal buckle in the middle of my child's back (we may decide to do forward facing on the plane, we are not sure).

Any suggestions?

How big is your LO? If they'll still fit in a Scenera NEXT that's what I'd use. It's inexpensive, light, and should fit RF on the plane, so you can avoid the buckle issue even though it doesn't have a closed beltpath. (Depending on your little's size, they may very well be above the top harness slot and have outgrown it FF, even though they will have room RF.)

Otherwise, I'd go with a Graco Contender or one of the other clones - these have the closed beltpath you want for FF. Others might have some different suggestions as well.
You might need a seatbelt extender to install your seat, so remember to ask for one from the flight attendant!
