I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee (that I hate, that's another story). The vehicle has rigid, non-removable headrests that tilt forward. I have been able to put my son's Britax Parkway SGL in the center seating position next to his sister's Diono Radian since there is no headrest there. My son is 7 years old, 51" tall and 59 pounds.
We are going to put the Britax Parkway in our Ford truck and get something different for the Jeep. Since the Clek Oobr allows the recline and the gap between the seat and the back with headrests like the Jeep has, I'm considering it for use in the outboard position. I'm concerned about it potentially being uncomfortable for my son since he is long-legged and I've read that it doesn't have much leg support. I like that it reclines, the rigid latch, and the metal in the frame.
The other option I was considering is going to a Britax Frontier 90 and putting him back in a 5 point harness for now. I can't sell the Jeep right now but I know it's not the safest. Having him in a 5 point harness again is attractive. Question - does the Britax Frontier 90 in harnessed mode not allow for a gap between the back of the seat and the headrest? Will I run into the same problem unless I put him in the middle (no headrest) position?
