I know RF is safest, but I have turned at (or just before) 2 with my oldest and middle. With my oldest my goal was 2 and I turned him at 21 months because I couldn't get his Scenera from tipping (being 8 months pregnant the first time trying to install it didn't help) and didn't understand the continuous harness so one side was always tighter digging into his neck. With my middle my goal was 3, but turned at 2 for no real reason other than moving her to the passenger side and it being more difficult to buckle her being 8 months pregnant.
My youngest will be 2 in August and I really need to keep her RF. I have no reason to turn her - not pregnant, not moving her, and not outgrowing her seat. The difficulties (real or imagined) are getting her in when she doesn't want to and can push her feet onto the back of the vehicle seat so I can't buckle her, leg room, and the super reclined angle of the single-line recline. I know her legs are safe, but might make it easier to buckle her with more room. The seats I have to work with are the old style Scenera (2013) a Guide (2014) and a SureRide (2014). I love the Scenera until about 2, then it gets harder to use. I have only used the Guide once (given by trusted friend) but the headrest pushes her head forward and the straps twisted every time I hooked her. Not liking it except the low sides that make it easy for DD to get in and not expiring until 2024. It seemed to have less leg room than the Scenera, maybe because I installed more upright. My middle girl is using the SureRide FF. I really hate trying to get it installed RF. It is also very deep which makes getting DD in really hard.
To use the seats I have I can use the Scerera until she outgrows it then move her to the SureRide when she is older and can climb in each time. Right now she is 26lbs and 32in. If I don't want to use the SureRide, what fairly inexpensive seat has low sides, more leg room, easy to install RF, and higher Height/Weight limit than the Scenera? I might be asking too much, but the convenience things might make it easier to keep her RF when I never thought I needed a nicer seat. Thanks for any advice even if just to say her legs are fine and just put her in the seat .
