Hi I like the mazda 5 and I am considering it for a second vehicle.

We have 2 kids that are front facing and a new baby on the way.
Will this work , are there enough tethers for all car seats?

The Mazda 5 has 4 tether anchors. Forward facing car seats can go in any seating position. The second row has lower anchors, the third row does not.

The 3rd row is pretty cramped, but I love loading rear facers back there, you just need a really compact rear facing seat. It's apparently not great for kids in boosters due to the belt geometry (shoulder belt is really far forward.)

We have a 2012 Mazda 5 as our second vehicle. We regularly have 4 kids riding in it. As lgenne said, it has tethers in all 4 rear spots and lower anchors in the middle row.

We have done the rearfacer in the third row as well. We had a nextfit that worked back there really well. We also used a cocorro back there.

Now that we more regularly use it to transport our toddler, I moved him to the middle row using latch on either a classic Britax Roundabout 50 or a Clek Foonf or a Graco Extend 2 fit.

Nice. I've been searching for a new to me second vehicle. 6 seats sure would beat the old yaris that has 400k km.
Just concerned of where the rear facer (newborn)would go . I am assuming having him or her in the back (3rd row ) would be a pain to load up.
The other kids 3 and 5 are front facing.
I was hoping to put one in 2nd row and oldest in 3rd row. Tough configuration.

Can anyone else comment or provide feedback on this configuration?

Are there any models /year's that differ from the other from all things car seats?
Thanks again.

Loading rear facers through the hatch is super easy. Maybe not for a floppy newborn, though? I moved #3 back there around 5 months.

Having 2 forward facers back there would be tough, because you wouldn't be able to get your upper body between the two car seats. One forward facer plus one optional rear facer seems more manageable.

I think it was redesigned in 2009? I've heard that the belt geometry in the 3rd row went from awful to annoying with that redesign.

Currently have a grand scenic but can't raise my 5 year old sons head rest on his high back booster any further as the roof pillars slope in too much. I'm looking at a Mazda 5 where he would sit in the third row . Does anyone know if there's enough height for the car seat to raise as he grows please
