Question Tether strap for my Evenflo will not work in my chevy Colorado 2007.

Hello. I'm trying to install my forward facing seat in the crew cab of my truck. The LATCH system work great until I want to use the tether. I have to pull down the back of the seat to access the tether point. When I connect the strap from he car seat, the adjustment buckle is too big and I cannot get the back of the seat to go up again and lock into place. So very frustrating. Please help.

Evenflo has a bulky tether connector, imo. You might have to switch to another brand to get a tether that will work with your truck.

There's no other way to go about this? I'm afraid no car seat will have a small enough adjuster.

If the seat back won't lock into place rendering the top tether useless, is the child small enough to RF or old enough to booster?

Different seats have different tether adjusters and different locations of the adjusters on the tether strap. Can you post a picture of the adjuster and location of the adjuster on the strap and how it interacts with your seat?

We are having the same issue with our 2005 Colorado. Rear facing was fine. Tether doesn’t work for forward facing as the seat back won’t snap back in. We have an Evenflo and Graco Car seats.
This is unacceptable. Advice of just getting a new brand is ridiculous. These are common different brands of car seats and these car seats cost hundreds of dollars.

Unfortunately, this is an issue that is up the vehicle manufacturer to decide. While there is a proposed rule to require increased compatibility, nothing at NHTSA is getting done in the immediate future and that wouldn't affect older model years either. If your vehicle doesn't work with your car seat forward facing because of the tether anchor not fitting, the options are to continue to rear face until booster age (may require a new seat), forward face without the tether (may increase injury risk), try a different seat (may or may not work/be possible), use an alternate option (such as a Ride Safer Delight Vest), or not transport kids in that vehicle. None of those is a great choice; sometimes there's no great choice. Sometimes the best we can do is make a tough choice between not-ideal options.

This is an issue because the vehicle manufacturer chose not to prioritize compatibility with tethers they knew were being used on car seats. You can call and ask if they have a solution we don't know about, but I'm guessing they don't.
