Gogokids Travelmate

So part of what made the Travelmate appealing and why I went with it is because they claim it can be left connected to the seat when using the seat on a plane. I tried that last flight and while the back part where the wheels are was all the way back in the crack of the seat (sitting on the seat) the front of the seat was suspended above the seat about 2 inches or so. I wasn't sure if that's how it was supposed to be or if it was safe so I removed the Travelmate and installed the seat. I'd like to find out if any of you had this problem and if it's ok to use it that way. I tried contacting Gogokidz but the person that replied to my emails was less than helpful, and really didn't even answer the question.

Flying solo with my preschooler makes me want to take the least steps possible. That and I hate the fight getting the seat off the Travelmate (releasing that latch is so hard under pressure!). Need to sort out my plan before my flight next month.

Thanks.

I know rules for using seats on airplanes are not as strict as rules for the car, but I don't have any experience with the Travelmate myself. I personally would not be too concerned as long as you got a good install, but I would encourage other opinions as well.
