Ride Safer Travel Vest for trip (incuding Canada)?

We are going on a cruise in a month, leaving out of San Diego and flying home from Vancouver. Our daughter is 4.75 yo, 42" and 37 lbs. Our hotel in San Diego is 10 minutes from the airport and we'll likely take a taxi. While in San Diego, we may do a hop on hop off tour, or we may rent a car to drive up to the Safari Park -- we're still deciding. Then when we get off the ship in Vancouver we may take a taxi to the airport.

So my questions:

1) Is the RSTV legal to use in Canada? I don't see anything saying it's certified or available in Canada. But would it be allowed since we live in the US (California)?

2) Is there any other option that we could use for our travels that wouldn't be bulky? We won't have space to store a bulky carseat on the ship. Not to mention lugging it around is going to be a nightmare with the rest of our luggage.

Hi!

It isn't legal to use in Canada in a passenger car- but since BC has an exemption for taxis, it isn't illegal to use in a taxi. :) Stick to taxi use and you'll be fine. (Honestly as a visitor it is unlikely anyone would care even in a passenger car, but since the law doesn't cover taxis you can use what you want.)

California doesn't have an exemption for taxi use but since you are using a restraint that's legal in California, you're good to go!

Actually the fastest mode of transport from the Vancouver cruise ship terminal to the airport is NOT taxi but rather Canada Line (public transit). It's a train with no seatbelts I would use that and skip the child restraint all together in Vancouver. Of course I would use one in a taxi in SD but the vest is legal there
