Replace seats?

Boo! DH just called. His car was involved in a hit and run while it was parked in the garage at work (and on a military base, no less!) He says the front bumper is hanging off, there are random smashed bits of plastic around, and as far as he can tell, it's going to need towed away. (Seriously? How on earth do you do that within the confines of a parking garage?! How fast was this dude going??!) Oh well, if his car is going to be involved in an accident, it's best for him not to be in it at the time!

There's a PN90 and a RN rxt installed in the back seat. Should we replace those, on account of the car needing towed from the accident site?

I would replace. Not because the car needed towed but because no one was there to see exactly what happened. Something hit your car hard enough to cause that damage and chances are that was enough force to count as an accident.

Thanks.

I asked DH to talk to the insurance company about replacing the seats. I think the accident probably did meet at least one criterion for when to replace... That said, the impact must not have been too bad since it didn't displace DH's car. When he got to it, his car was still parked within the lines of the space he put it in. So I think it's unlikely that the seats suffered any real damage. He says the body of the car looks unaffected; it's just the bumper and the stuff immediately under the bumper that were damaged. So if insurance will replace, that would be great! If they won't, I don't think I'm going to bother replacing the seats. I honestly don't think they were under any stress from that. Of course, I'll give them a once over to check for any signs of stress, just to be extra safe, but I'm not too worried about it.

We had a less severe hit and run at a parking garage and our insurance company paid for the cost of the seat without hesitation. I just had to email a photo and they issued a check for the msrp. I would go into the interaction with the expectation they'll replace and it wont be a problem and hope that's how it goes. ;)
