Question britax buckle - how to fix if buckled backward

Folks,

I am watching my partner's one-year-old. (We live in different states, so I don't have frequent experience with this.) She uses a Britax car seat (not sure which model). When buckling the child in, I reversed the two elements - there's a right and left buckle, and I accidentally attached the child-left part (the part with the button) backwards, so there's no way to release the buckle by pressing the button.

I can't possibly be the only moron on the planet to have made this mistake. Has anyone else done this? If so, how can it be fixed?

Well. My father in law just did the same thing. Were you ever able to fix it?

If you loosen the straps you should be able to get your hand behind- can you push the button sufficiently to open then? If it's still stuck you should call Britax; if worst comes to worst, the buckle and harness assembly is removable and can be replaced.
