3 Across Mazda CX 9

I'm having a baby in May and I'm trying to figure out how to get 3 seats across in my 2010 Mazda CX-9. The baby will have a Chicco Keyfit 30, my 22 month old has a RF Britax Boulevard click tight and I was looking to get a booster for my 4 year old. Any opinions on a booster seat that I can put in the center and still have enough room for my 4 year old to buckle herself in. I tired fitting a Britax parkways SGL in the center but it's impossible for her to buckle and unbuckle.

Hi there.

At four she's far too young for a booster, and as you've found, it's too difficult to buckle in a tight three across situation. For this we'd recommend a harness, even if she was of a mature booster age, for ease of use. A Graco Tranzitions/Wayz or Harmony Defender is a narrow harnessed seat. That will give her skeleton time to finish getting strong enough for her to be able to withstand a booster seat, as well as give her a year or two to mature to also be able to handle it. Most four year olds, when the honeymoon period wears off, really don't do well in a booster at all. They're not used to the freedom and haven't got the ability to grasp the consequences yet at all of what happens if they lean down for something, sleep and slump, or lean over to play with a sibling and get out of position. Plus, a harnessed seat can be buckled from the front, so you only need to get your hands in there once to install it, then you're done with that.

Definitely possible. The Boulevard CT and Keyfit are on the narrower side.

BRU and BBB have them for sale, and you can try them out in the car before you buy. That might be a nice option for you before you put down money. Or buy from an online place with a nice return policy.

I had two FF tranzitions (still using five point) with the chicco key fit across the second row in my 2011 CX-9. The infant seat fit in the middle or on the side with no issue and plenty of space!
