Question Quick help! Contender or Sonus?

I need a budget-friendly long-lasting convertible that can fit a newborn. Which of these two would you recommend? Sonus bottom slot is 6" as opposed to Contender's 7" -- I don't have a good sense of how much better this makes it for a newborn.

The convertibles I see recommended most for newborns have 5-6 in bottom slots either on their own or with the help f their inserts. I'd probably go for the Sonus, if you're not sure how big baby would be.

My youngest Fit from birth in an infant seat with 8 in bottom slots but he was 8lbs 8 oz, I think and fit well. Any smaller, we would have had to use our nextfit for awhile before the shuttle.

How about the Cosco scenera next? 5 inch bottom slots and inexpensive enough to use for a shorter amount of time.

Thanks. I am buying it for a woman in my neighborhood and she said she wanted a seat that would last RF and FF, which is why I nixed the NEXT. I figured since I am buying her a seat, I should get her one that she won't have to replace for awhile.

I went with the Sonus!
